During a time when educational opportunities were scarce for African Americans, the seven founders of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, INC. chose to become educators. Founded on the principle of education, Sigma Gamma Rho continues to promote and encourage high scholastic achievement. The ALMIGHTY Alpha chapter recognizes all of our members scholastic and extracurricular achievements.
On May 7, 2022, the President of Butler University James Danko posthumously granted an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters to each of the seven founders of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, INC. Past Madame Grand Basileus Rasheeda Liberty accepted the honor and was hooded on the founders behalf. Past Madame Basileus was accompanied by Madame Grand Anti-Grammateus Dr. Khalilah Shabazz who is the great-granddaughter of Founder Dr. Vivian Irene White Marbury.
At the 60th Boule, the ALMIGHTY Alpha chapter was awarded the 'National Undergraduate Chapter Service Grant' during the sessions. We are incredibly grateful to have been awarded this grant!
During the 85th Central Region Conference Award Ceremony, the ALMIGHTY Alpha Chapter was honored with a total of seven awards, showcasing the excellence, service, and scholarship of our chapter. We were proudly named Undergraduate Chapter of the Year and received the Chapter Scholastic Achievement Award and the Essence of Sigma Service Award. Individual honors were awarded to Soror Solee Dinio and Soror Jordan Brown for achieving the Highest GPA in the Region, with Soror Jordan Brown also receiving the Rising Star Award. Soror Raeghan Jefferson was recognized with the Graduating Senior Award, and both Soror Raeghan Jefferson and Soror Kamarie Fuller-McDade took 1st place in the Case Study Competition. These achievements would not have been possible without the amazing support and guidance of our undergraduate chapter advisor, Soror Charnel Forbes!
At the 5th Annual Student Government Association Awards Ceremony, the ALMIGHTY Alpha Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was honored with several awards in recognition of their leadership, service, and impact across campus. The chapter received the Campus Impact Award, and Basileus Jayla Cromwell was named Sorority President of the Year. Soror Raeghan Jefferson was awarded Service to the Student Body, and Soror Madison Evans was recognized as Volunteer of the Year. Madison also received Outstanding Student Organization for her work with First Gen Dawgs. Additionally, the Dr. Terri Jett Equity Award and the Murdock Community Award were both awarded to BSU, with contributions from Soror Kamarie Fuller-McDade, Soror Edyn Curry, and Soror Ny’Anza Palmer. Congratulations to the ALMIGHTY Alpha Chapter and all our amazing Sorors for continuing to promote greatness and excellence on campus!
